For many of us growing up, the brilliant character of Grotbags was a children’s television treat. She made her debut in the show Emu’s World, before going on to get her own series, which in turn ran for three successful – and much-loved – series.
Grotbags was created by Richard Coombs and Carol Lee Scott. Carol Lee Scott then debuted a version of the character when she was a children’s entertainer working for Pontins. Fame would follow, though as she made the jump to television, becoming a Children’s ITV favourite. Not bad, considering that the character of Grotbags was scary as well as entertaining.
Grotbags was a firm favourite for many of us, which makes the next bit of news extra sad. Carol Lee Scott died yesterday, at the age of 74. The news of her passing was posted on Twitter by her niece, Gina Mear.
My dear aunty Carol passed away yesterday, RIP #Grotbags, I will miss you 😢 pic.twitter.com/UORQ2MJjkd

We wish Gina, and the rest of Carol’s family and friends, all the very best at this difficult time. Rest in peace, Carol Lee Scott. And thank you for giving us Grotbags…
