Seeming to confirm that Lucasfilm and Disney don’t have any immediate plans for more Solo: A Star Wars Story films, the film’s star Alden Ehrenreich has signed up for a major TV role. Here’s everything we know…
The NBCU streaming platform is lining up a cast for its TV adaptation of Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World novel, and Deadline reports that Alden Ehrenreich will be playing the important role of John Savage in the show.
David Wiener, Grant Morrison and Brian Taylor are writing this adaptation of Huxley’s novel, which was initially released in 1932. Prior to landing at NBCU, the series was in development at Syfy.
If you’re wondering what the story is, here is GoodReads‘ blurb for the book:
“Largely set in a futuristic World State of genetically modified citizens and an intelligence-based social hierarchy, the novel anticipates huge scientific developments in reproductive technology, sleep-learning, psychological manipulation, and classical conditioning that are combined to make a utopian society that goes challenged only by a single outsider.”
That subversive outsider is Ehrenreich’s character, and, of course, he’s got some experience playing rebels. His role as Han Solo is what he is most famous for, indeed, but he also did strong work in Hail Caesar and Stoker.
We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
