Jamie Mathieson has written another episode for the new series of Doctor Who.
He has penned Episode 9, the new issue of Doctor Who Magazine reveals, in addition to his previously announced Episode 8. However, the episodes are not thought to be a two-part story.
Directed by Douglas Mackinnon (Line of Duty), Episode 9 guest stars Christopher Fairbank (Alien 3), Joivan Wade (Youngers) and Matt Bardock (Casualty).
Mathieson has previously written episodes of Being Human and Dirk Gently, as well as Chris O’Dowd’s 2009 movie Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel, but is new to Doctor Who in Series 8.
He commented on his blog: “So… they quite liked the first script I delivered and asked me if I’d like to write another. They quite liked that one too. Then they decided to put them next to each other in the schedule as episodes 8 and 9. No pressure.”
Mathieson has also written E4′s upcoming parallel universe drama pilot ALT, starring Gethin Anthony (Game of Thrones), Roxanne McKee (Hollyoaks) and Craig Roberts (Submarine).
Other writers confirmed for the new series of Doctor Who include Steven Moffat, Peter Harness, Gareth Roberts, Phil Ford, Mark Gatiss and Steve Thompson.
Series 8 is currently filming in Cardiff and will begin airing on BBC One in August.
