ITV has announced that Broadchurch stars David Tennant, Olivia Colman, Jodie Whittaker, Andrew Buchan and Arthur Darvill will all be back for the second series.

Series 2 begins filming in Dorset soon, with Tennant and Colman returning as Alec Hardy and Ellie Miller, alongside Whittaker and Buchan as Beth and Mark Latimer, with Darvill as local vicar Paul Coates.

The Smoke star Jodie Whittaker exclusively confirmed to CultBox earlier this year that Colman and Tennant were returning for the new series.

ITV’s Director of Drama Steve November commented: “We’re delighted Broadchurch is back in production, but we’re remaining tight-lipped about how the story develops. Suffice to say Chris has delivered as always and the scripts are just as exciting as the first series.”

Executive producer Jane Featherstone added: “So we’d like viewers to enjoy the new series knowing as little as possible about what’s to come and for the story to unfold in real time.”
