Brooklyn Nine-Nine has added another comedy superstar to its ranks: Gina Rodriquez, who is best known for her starring role in Jane The Virgin, will report for duty in the second half of Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 5. The news of Rodriquez’s casting on the show first broke on Instagram, where some set pictures – which have now been taken down – were leaked.
By the sounds of it, Rodriguez’s arrival will tie into a sizeable moment from the Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 5 winter finale. Therein, Stephanie Beatriz’s detective character Rosa Diaz came out as bisexual. And now, it is widely believed that Gina Rodriquez is playing Rosa’s first female love interest on the show. If that’s true, it means that Beatriz is getting her wish: after all, the actress previously called for Rodriguez to play Rosa’s next romantic interest.
In other Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 5 casting news, it has also been announced that This Is Us and Black Panther actor Sterling K. Brown has signed up for a guest spot in the second half of the season.
