Humans star Gemma Chan has shared a couple of photos from the set of her next big screen project, Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel movie. Chan’s role in this 2019 blockbuster is Minn-Erva, an alien scientist from the comics who traditionally has blue skin.
Chan posted these two images of her on-set seating arrangement, confirming that she is on set and that her work on the film has begun…

It’s unclear at this stage how large Chan’s role as Minn-Erva will be in the film, but it’s exciting regardless to have another talented Brit joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She’s not the only one in Captain Marvel, either: Jude Law is playing the Kree warrior Mar-Vell, an alien superhero who – in the comics – once held the mantle of Captain Marvel himself.
The Captain Marvel film will be set in the 1990s, and it will chart the origin story of Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers as the superhero Captain Marvel. In the comics, Carol is generally portrayed as a fighter pilot who gains a wide range of superpowers after encountering alien energy. Mar-Vell is expected to play a part in that in the film.
Familiar faces from the MCU including Samuel L Jackson’s Nick Fury and Clark Gregg’s Phil Coulson will appear in the film, which is expected in some way to tee up the events of Avengers 4.
Captain Marvel has a UK release date of March 8th 2019, and we’ll bring you more news as we hear it.
