A one-off version of Googlebox featuring kids will air on Channel 4 this Christmas.
Observational documentary Gogglebox launched in March 2013, taking the living room conversations that happen in front of the TV and putting them on the TV.
Titled Googlebox Kids, the new 60-minute special will feature kids aged up to 13 from across the UK offering their opinions on key moments of 2015 from the cakes on Bake Off to the fate of Cecil the Lion.
Studio Lambert Creative Director Tim Harcourt commented: “We have seen that kids say the funniest things on TV, and this version of the Channel 4 hit will allow school children from different backgrounds to do this as they react to their screens – big and small. We think that this Christmas special will show more than their views on visual content and TV today, it will reveal how they see the world around them.”
Channel 4’s Head of Specialist Factual, David Glover added: “I first saw Jurassic Park in a cinema with some kids sitting behind me. There’s a scene in which you see some jelly wobble to the thud of an impending dinosaur. The kid behind me just said, “Jelly!” That makes me think this could work.”
A sixth season of Googlebox begins on Channel 4 in Sepetember.
