Dear White People has been renewed for a third season at Netflix, an official announcement has revealed. The series was created by writer and director Justin Simien, based on his film of the same name from 2014.
Several actors from the film reprised their roles for the series, but Logan Browning took over from Tessa Thompson in the lead role of Samantha White, a student broadcaster within the diverse community of the fictional Winchester University.
Giancarlo Esposito, who narrates the series, revealed the news about Dear White People season 3 in this short video…
“Now that I have your attention,” Esposito says in the video, “I come with a message of truth. To clarify the false information that’s being disseminated around the world today: ‘Dear White People’ will be returning to Netflix for Season 3. We’ll meet you there.”
That statement, of course, ties into the series’ themes on information being disseminated poorly. Esposito’s narrator has been revealed within the show to be a key member of the Order Of X, a shady secret society within the university.
There’s no word yet on when Dear White People season 3 will arrive on Netflix for our viewing pleasure, but we’ll be sure to let you know when we hear more.
