Matt Groening, the creator of The Simpsons and Futurama, is bringing a brand new animated series to Netflix. It’s called Disenchantment, and it takes place in a fantasy version of the past.
Riffing on the fact that Groening has now set one show each in the present, the future and the past, here’s the first Disenchantment teaser trailer to whet your appetite for this exciting new show…
Netflix has also released this short summary of the plot:
“This animated series from Matt Groening follows the misadventures of a hard-drinking princess, her feisty elf companion and her personal demon.”
Additionally, the streaming giant has confirmed that Disenchantment season 1 will arrive on its online platform on 17th August 2018.
As for the cast, we know that Abbi Jacobson – who recently voiced Emily in BoJack Horseman – will be playing Princess Bean, the main character. Nat Faxon will be voicing Elfo, and Eric André will voice Luci. Other names on the cast list include Mighty Boosh alums Noel Fielding, Rich Fulcher and Matt Berry, which has us hoping for some brilliant British humour on the side.
20 episodes are expected in this first batch, and the credited writers are currently Matt Groening and Reid Harrison. Groening is credited as the sole creator of the show.
We’ll bring you more news as we hear it.
