The exhibition currently features an interactive experience based around Matt Smith’s Doctor and Series 5’s storylines.
Den of Geek reports that the walk-through adventure part of the Doctor Who Experience will be closed for around six weeks later this year to prepare for the switchover, before Capaldi’s new experience opens in the autumn. The main exhibition, featuring props and costumes fromt he show, will remain open during the switchover period.
The Doctor Who Experience first opened in London in February 2011, before moving to Cardiff in July 2012.
The BBC announced earlier this week that Samuel Anderson (Emmerdale) will join the show’s cast as a recurring character in Series 8.
The actor will play Danny Pink, a teacher at Coal Hill School where companion Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman) also teaches.

Series 8 of Doctor Who is currently filming in Cardiff and is expected to begin airing on BBC One in August.
