A film crew was busy on Cardiff Bay Barrage in Penarth, Friday and Saturday night, 16 and 17 December to film scenes for Doctor Who with Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson.
The BBC released photographs of Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson in costume as the Doctor and companion Ruby Sunday ahead of the filming on December 17.
Millie Gibson and Ncuti Gatwa shared a video of themselves in costume at the filming base at a car park at Alexandra Head located above the north end of the Barrage.
The Penarth Daily News covered the setup for the filming on 16 December.
The filming occurred on a floating pontoon which was towed into one of the three entrance locks in the Barrage. A few fans managed to get some photos from a distance on 17 December.
Ncuti Gatwa shared some photos from the filming.

Only photo I managed to sneak sorry guys, security guard was an ass. This was the covered up area the filming was taking place. It’s ended now. didn’t see the main cast they snuck them out as they pack up and left. There is something under the tarp at not the TARDIS. #dwsr pic.twitter.com/v3J2Xf92J2

#dwsr I’m not 100% sure but this is potentially the TARDIS under the cover. Didn’t look like it from the tiny bit we saw, but does look a lot more like it in this rushed photo I managed to take 🤔 pic.twitter.com/Rgba1G1H9h
