Peter Capaldi’s TARDIS was dismantled after his Doctor regenerated, and now we seem to have confirmation that “crazy” plans are afoot for Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor to have her own redecorated version.
Showrunner Chris Chibnall has been tight-lipped about whether the TARDIS will be getting a complete overhaul, and the iconic police box was notable in its absence from the Doctor Who series 11 trailer.
But now, we’ve had our biggest clue yet that something funky and new will be materialising on our screens in series 11. This news comes from concept artist Darren Fereday, who tagged production designer Arwel Wyn Jones in the following Tweet:
Just over a year ago, @arwelwjones invited me to secret talks to start thinking about a certain TARDIS. His vision was crazy. It hasn’t stopped. It’s been the best job I’ve been on. I totally levelled up on it. Can’t thank you enough sir for the adventure! Until the next one

Arwel Wyn Jones responded by reminding Fereday – with a winking emoji – that they aren’t meant to be talking about this:
You are most welcome & thanks for all the things & things we can’t talk about yet😉

When a fan said “there can’t be something even cooler to do” with the TARDIS, compared to the previous designs, Fereday played it coy and unleashed a few winking emojis of his own:
Ohhh you’d think so BUT…. 😉😉😉😉

We can’t wait to see what Arwel Wyn Jones’ crazy vision, which Darren Fereday helped realise, ends up looking like on screen. With any luck, there will be a big unveil between now and Doctor Who series 11’s premiere in October.
We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
