Michelle Gomez has teased that it is not a coincidence that her Doctor Who character made her debut in a location previously used in the show.

Gomez first appeared as Missy, later revealed to be the Master, in a garden at the end of Season 8’s feature-length opener, ‘Deep Breath’.

Many fans recognised the garden from key scenes in 2011’s ‘The Girl Who Waited’ episode.

Asked by Erik Nagel if there was a link, Gomez commented: “Oh, there’s no coincidence in Doctor Who. Everything’s connected, that’s what makes it really spooky in a way.”

She hinted: “Yes, there’s a connection yet to be revealed.”

The location has also featured in episodes of Torchwood and CBBC’s Doctor Who spin-off The Sarah Jane Adventures.
