Steven Moffat has confirmed that Doctor Who will run for “five more years” at least.
Doctor Who first aired on 23 November 1963 and this year marked the tenth anniversary of the show’s 21st century revival.
Moffat told Variety: “It is definitely going to last five more years, I’ve seen the business plan.”
The showrunner added: “It’s not going anywhere. And I think we can go past that. It’s television’s own legend. It will just keep going.”
Moffat revealed last week that Peter Capaldi will definitely be back for a third season of Doctor Who next year.
Season 9 is currently airing on Saturday nights on BBC One.
