Whilst the trend in US television of late has been to bring shows such as 24 and The X-Files back for belated seasons – with varying levels of success – one American hit that’s staying dormant is Desperate Housewives.
Originally running between 2004 and 2012, the show was a huge hit at its peak, with a cast that included Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Nicolette Sheridan and Eva Longoria. John Barrowman even popped up for a while.
Teri Hatcher was appearing on Loose Women, a show we don’t talk about much on this site as it happens. And she confirmed that the revival ideas for the programme aren’t passing muster. “I don’t think they’re very good. Just because of the creators. It’s not the women. I think the women would probably all do it. I’d be the first person. I never wanted it to be over. I love those characters”, she said.
There’s no sign either of the once-mooted Desperate Housewives movie, which suggests that this is a show that’s going to stay in the archives. We’ll let you know if that changes…
