After the impressive Dredd movie from 2012 failed to catch fire at the worldwide box office, it looks like the screen adventures of Judge Dredd were at an end (in spite of a determined campaign to get a cinematic sequel going).
However, the plan now is to bring Mega City One to the small screen, in an event TV series that’s going by the name of Judge Dredd: Mega City One. And the latest on that? Karl Urban is interesting in reprising the title role.
Urban played Dredd in the 2012 film, and has been adamant that he was interested in returning. Turns out that interest hasn’t faded as Dredd heads to television. Chatting at Star Trek Las Vegas convention, Urban confirmed that “I am in discussions with them about that, I told them that if they write the material and give Dredd something to do and give him a function, I will be there. I would love to”.
And we would love him to as well.
The series is set to film next year, ahead of a 2019 premiere.
