Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman will return to The CW next month to take part in the epic Elseworlds crossover, which will entangle the plots of Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl for a three-part spectacular.
For the first time in the Arrowverse, we will also see Lois Lane. She’ll be played by Elizabeth Tulloch of The Artist, Concussion and Grim fame.
And now, thanks to Hoechlin’s Instagram account, we’ve seen the first image of his Supes and Tulloch’s Lois together. You can have a look at it right here:
They certainly seem to be playing on the iconography of the classic Superman movies here, with Kal-El in a brightly coloured suit, Lois in a flowing dress and the brightly lit Fortress of Solitude shining in the background. It’s easy to imagine Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder taking a similar publicity shot for Superman: The Movie in 1978.
We do know, however, that Hoechlin is set to don a black suit at some point during the Elseworlds crossover. Could it be that Superman, who looks so heroic and loved up in the Lois image, is set to go bad? We’ll just have to wait and watch to find out.
The crossover will begin on The CW, for American viewers, with The Flash on December 9th. It will continue on Arrow the following night before wrapping up with Supergirl on the 11th. Here in the UK, episodes of all these shows tend to arrive on Sky One a week after their American debut.
We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
