A TV show based on Event Horizon is in the works at Amazon Prime Video and Paramount Television, with Adam Wingard involved behind the scenes. Here’s everything we know…
Variety broke the news, reporting that Wingard is lined up to executive produce and direct the series, which is still at the development stage rather than the active production stage. The other executive producers include Larry Gordon, Lloyd Levin and Jeremy Platt.
Wingard most recently directed the massive blockbuster Godzilla Vs Kong, although he originally garnered acclaim for pacy indies like You’re Next and The Guest. Gordon and Levin worked on the original Event Horison movie.
The original Event Horizon movie released in 1997, and it was directed by Paul W.S. Anderson from a script by Philip Eisner. The cast included Lauren Fishburne, Sam Neill, Jason Isaacs and Sean Pertwee. A blend of sci-fi and horror, the film bore the tagline “infinite space, infinite terror” and it followed a group of astronauts on a rescue mission the led to some serious peril.
The exact direction of this new TV take is yet to be seen, and we don’t currently have any information regarding its cast or release date. As we hear more about the Event Horizon TV show, though, we’ll be sure to let you know. Watch this space…
