Three of the producers behind The CW’s excellent musical comedy series, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, have signed a deal with Paramount Players to develop a female-led cop comedy feature film. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend showrunner Aline Brosh McKenna and her producer collaborators Rachel Specter and Audrey Wauchope will work together once again on this as-yet-untitled movie project.
Specter and Wauchope will write the script for this women-centric police flick, with Brosh McKenna serving as a producer. There has been no word yet on who will star in the eventual film, but fans of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend will be hoping for a few performers to carry over. (It would be particularly awesome to see Rachel Bloom and Donna Lynne Champlin cracking some cases together.)
We also don’t have any details about the plot or the style of the movie. All we really have to go on are the words ‘female-driven comedy set in the world of law enforcement’, which is, to be fair, enough to pique our interest.
As we hear more about Specter, Wauchope and Brosh McKenna’s exciting new project, we’ll be sure to pass the news onto you. Until then, you could do a lot worse than catching up with Crazy Ex-Girlfriend on Netflix UK, if you haven’t already.
