Isaac Hempstead-Wright, who played Bran Stark in Game Of Thrones, has confirmed that Bran’s ending point in the show was decided by book author George R.R. Martin. Here’s everything you need to know…
In the final episode of Game Of Thrones, Bran becomes king of the Six Kingdoms after Tyrion suggests that ‘Bran The Broken’ has the best story of any of them and has the best chance of uniting what’s left of the world. For some fans, the idea that Bran was the best contender was an idea to be scoffed at. For others, Bran seems to have the makings of a fair and honest ruler, even if he did have a bit of personality transplant when he became the Three-Eyed Raven.
But if you were hoping to eventually read a different ending for Bran, when George R.R. Martin brings out his last two books in the series, think again. Speaking to Making Game Of Thrones, Isaac Hempstead-Wright confirmed that Bran being kind is exactly what Martin had in store for Bran all along:
“[Creators] David [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss] told me there were two things [author] George R.R. Martin had planned for Bran, and that was the Hodor revelation, and that he would be king. So that’s pretty special to be directly involved in something that is part of George’s vision. It was a really nice way to wrap it up.”
It’ll be interesting to see, when Martin’s final books do come out, which changes have been made to the wider Game Of Thrones story. We’ll keep you informed as we hear more…
