Game Of Thrones prequel: George R.R. Martin teases houses and creatures

George R.R. Martin has been teasing the contents of HBO’s Game Of Thrones prequel series, which he has developed with Jane Goldman. Here’s everything you need to know…

The show seems be going by the working title Bloodmoonalthough another popular moniker for the show seems to be The Long Night. We know it is said thousands of years before the main show.

“The Starks will definitely be there,” Martin said in an interview with EW, and he also mentioned that the Lannisters aren’t around yet at this point in the timeline.

On the topic of houses, Martin also added this: “We talk about the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros; there were Seven Kingdoms at the time of Aegon’s Conquest. But if you go back further then there are nine kingdoms, and 12 kingdoms, and eventually you get back to where there are a hundred kingdoms — petty kingdoms — and that’s the era we’re talking about here.”

As for monsters, this show takes place before the age of dragons, but Martin said this about the creatures you can expect: “Obviously the White Walkers are here — or as they’re called in my books, The Others — and that will be an aspect of it. There are things like direwolves and mammoths.”

The series is currently shooting its pilot episode, and we’ll be sure to keep you posted as we hear more.
