The BBC is slowly pressing ahead with its hugely ambitious planned adaptation of Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials, aiming in part to right the wrongs of the big budget The Golden Compass movie.
The new show is being overseen by Bad Wolf, a production company run by former Doctor Who producer Julie Gardner, and Jane Tranter. Tranter had already confirmed that the plan was to shoot the majority of His Dark Materials in Wales, but The Knowledge now reports that scouting and assessing appropriate facilities will take place over the coming months. A sign that His Dark Materials is edging closer.
The running favourites are reported to be Swansea (and the facilities that housed Da Vinci’s Demons), Pinewood Studio Wales and Dragon Studios. More on the programme as we get it…
