Joss Whedon (Buffy, The Avengers, Firefly) has lined up his next TV project, having not worked on the small screen for around five years. He is credited as one of the creators of Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., but he hasn’t written an episode since its pilot in 2013.
Now, Whedon will serve as an executive producer on a show entitled Pippa Smith: Grown Up Detective, which is being led by Siobhan Thompson (College Humor, Bad Internet, BBC America’s Anglophenia) and Rebecca Drysdale (Key And Peele, Baskets, The Big Gay Sketch Show).
Variety broke the news, describing the show as “a dark comedy that follows Pippa Smith, a twenty-something former kid sleuth, as she deals with relationships, addiction and being too dang old for the detecting game. Each episode, Pippa solves a new case, while unraveling a bigger mystery and attempting to navigate a messy personal life.”
The show is currently in development at Freeform, the American network formerly known as ABC Family. The network currently produces such shows as Black-ish, Siren and Marvel’s Cloak And Dagger.
It’s not a sure thing that we will get to witness a full season of Pippa Smith: Grown Up Detective, but it’s an interesting project to see in development.
We’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
