Way back in 2007, renowned filmmaker George Miller was in pre-production for a DC Entertainment team-up movie entitled Justice League: Mortal. Studio time was booked in Australia, costumes were designed, and an interesting cast was assembled.
Armie Hammer was cast as Batman. DJ Cotrona was Superman. Megan Gale was Wonder Woman. Adam Brody was The Flash. Santiago Cabrera was Aquaman. Hugh Keys-Byrne was Martian Manhunter. Common was Green Lantern.
And now, more than a decade after the film was cancelled for a combination of reasons (including a tax incentive from the Australian government which fell through), we finally have an idea of what DC’s finest heroes would have looked like in Justice League: Mortal.
Here’s a photo from a costume test that recently came to light…
Here’s a tactical-looking Batsuit (not unlike the one that Ben Affleck eventually wore in Justice League) that Armie Hammer would’ve worn…
Here’s a more traditional Batsuit, which was also for Armie Hammer…
And here’s yet another Batsuit for Armie Hammer, which appears to have a rather untraditional collar around the cowl…
This looks like an interesting set of designs, doesn’t it? There is some real colour in that team photo, and it would’ve been fun to see Mr Hammer flitting between different Batsuits and kicking some rear-ends as Gotham’s caped crusader.
As more comes to light about this sadly doomed movie, we’ll be sure to let you know.
