Lucifer season 5 will be the last run of the show on Netflix…
Lucifer season 5 is coming back for an extended run of 16 episodes this year, and there’ll be a new face in the cast!
EW confirms that 24‘s Dennis Haysbert will be playing God. Yes, we will finally get to meet the man who’s been torturing Lucifer’s soul all these years.
“We did like the big crazy list of [possible actors for the part], and he was my top choice,” Lucifer co-showrunner Joe Henderson said. “We were lucky. It was our first and only offer.”
Haysbert and Lucifer‘s Amenadiel – D.B. Woodside – had previously played brothers on the adrenaline-fuelled 24, and it’s no coincidence they’re being reunited here.
“D.B. had actually come up to us and said, ‘Have you thought about Dennis?’ We were like, ‘Do you think he’d actually do it?’ And he’s like, ‘Well, I’ve already talked to him and sort of brought it up.’ And so we just went straight on at him,” admitted Henderson.
There’s no release date set for Lucifer‘s farewell, but we should hear an announcement very soon.
“We’re thrilled that Lucifer fans around the world have embraced this series on Netflix, and we can’t wait to give them the big finish they’ve all been waiting for,” says Netflix about the final season.
And the show’s executive producers added this: “We are so incredibly thankful to Netflix for resurrecting our show last season, and now letting us finish the story of Lucifer on our terms. Most importantly, we want to thank the fans for their incredible passion and support. The best is yet to come!!”
At least we know now that this final season will be a decent-length conclusion. And of course we’ll bring you more Lucifer season 5 news as we hear it.
