Talented multihyphenate Miley Cyrus has confirmed that she’ll return to the acting world with a role in the fifth season of Charlie Brooker’s dark anthology series, Black Mirror, which is in production at Netflix.
Cyrus – who is currently doing the promotional rounds for her track with Mark Ronson, Nothing Breaks Like A Heart – revealed her Black Mirror news while chatting to Howard Stern on Sirius XM. (The news was later confirmed by such high profile entertainment outlets as The Hollywood Reporter.)
Stern eked a statement out of Cyrus, who was clearly NDA-ed up the wazoo and not technically meant to be commenting. Cyrus offered to shake her head to confirm the rumours, if Stern asked the right question, and then she gave the affirmative gesture when he did just that.
“I’m really actually excited for everyone to watch the ‘headshaking project’ we said yes to [before],” she added later on.
She also mentioned that there are a “lot of different sides” to her character in the show.
“There’s a lot of dimension to it,” Cyrus said, “and actually it was while the devastation of Malibu was happening, and it was a really weird learning experience for me because I was so far from home and the show is already really dark, and it’s already kind of eerie when you’re there the whole time. But I learned a lot about myself, and I think I was able to use that and put that into it.”
Black Mirror season 5 doesn’t have a release date yet, but we’ll be sure to bring you more news as we hear it.
