Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson filmed scenes for Doctor Who Series 14 dressed on 1960s era costumes alongside Jinkx Monsoon in Newport, Wales on 20 and 21 April.

The film crew set up on Mellon Street in Newport with Ben Chessell directing. A large crane was employed to lift a piano. The filming occurred mainly out of sight in an alleyway off of Mellon Street with the actors occasionally popping into view.

Showrunner Russell T Davies mentioned the 1960s episode on his Instagram.

“Back to the 60s! But what’s so important about that specific year? What’s waiting for the Doctor and Ruby? And how will they ever survive?!”

Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson were photographed at the location on 20 April.

Jinkx Monson, who plays “the Doctor’s most powerful enemy yet” was present for filming both days. She was photographed at the location on 21 April.

Ncuti Gatwa was again photographed at the location on 21 April.

The crew is rumoured to film again on Mellon Street in Newport on 24 April and at Newport Market on 25 April.

Frederick Street in Bristol will once again be closed off for Doctor Who filming on 26 April.

Doctor Who will return in November 2023 with three 60th anniversary specials starring David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor and Catherine Tate as companion Donna Noble. In the following festive period, Ncuti Gatwa will star in his first full Doctor Who episode as the Fifteenth Doctor. Doctor Who Series 14 starring Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson will debut in 2024.
