Netflix has already announced its Pacific Rim animated series, but now we know when it is coming out and how many seasons have been ordered. Here’s everything you need to know…
IGN reports that Legendary Entertainment’s Elie Dekel has “revealed that Pacific Rim’s first season will begin in 2020 and that the show has been confirmed for two seasons.” Dekel is said to have made this revelation at the Anime Expo in Los Angeles.
Dekel is quoted as saying this: “[This is] one of the biggest budget anime series I’ve had the pleasure of working on, and I think that speaks to the commitment of Netflix and Legendary [to anime.]”
As for the show’s story, IGN says that fans can expect to see “the story of two siblings who pilot an abandoned Jaeger mech in attempt to find their missing parents.”
Of course, the Pacific Rim franchise has given us two movies so far. The first one, directed by Guillermo del Toro, came out in 2013. Its 2018 sequel, Pacific Rim: Uprising, was directed by Steven S. DeKnight. There doesn’t seem to be much movement on the third film in the franchise, which makes this animated series something for fans to get excited about.
We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
