It’s official: there’s going to be another season of Prison Break. Fox confirmed the news overnight, following rumours swirling just before Christmas. And in the aftermath of the successful ‘event series’ revival of the show, a new run has now been ordered. Season six is a go.
The news was confirmed by Fox Entertainment’s Michael Thorn, who said that the show would return in a “new iteration”. Naturally, he wasn’t telling anyone just what that new iteration was. Don’t hold your breath for it, either. Thorn also confirmed that the project was in its “very early stages”.
Still, it seems almost certain that Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell will be back for season six, given that they’ve both individually teased the show themselves, in turn fuelling the aforementioned rumours. Robert Knepper, who is facing sexual assault accusations, would strike us as very, very unlikely to return.
As more news comes in, we’ll let you know.
