Speaking at a screening of the Channel 4 sitcom Friday Night Dinner yesterday, when asked if a sequel to the big screen version of the hit TV show was on the cards, Bird told the Media Guardian Edinburgh International Television Festival audience: “Not that I’m aware of. There was a story in the press last week but I think that was not quite true, don’t believe everything you read.”
The newly married actor elaborated, referring to the E4 show’s writers: “I think Iain [Morris] and Damon [Beesley] were thinking about doing one, and are thinking of ideas, that’s about as far as it’s got. There are no concrete plans.”
The Inbetweeners Movie, starring the original cast, was released in 2011 and took almost £50 million at the UK box office alone, whilst it hits North America next month.
