Who would’ve thought, back when he played the main villain in The Flash season 1, that Tom Cavanagh would end up portraying different iterations of Harrison Wells in each new season of the show? Not many people, we’d wager, but it’s quite fun to live in the world where chucking a new role at Mr Cavanagh has become an annual telly tradition.
“I’m just doing my darnedest to get this show cancelled, one guy after one guy after one guy and somehow I haven’t quite struck that note yet, but maybe this year,” Cavanagh joked, when his multitudes of different characters came up in conversation with Entertainment Weekly.
Cavanagh went on to describe the new version of Wells that he’ll be playing in The Flash season 5, saying this to tease the impending fresh iteration of the STAR Labs scientist:
“This guy will be filled with intrigue and deceit, fun, humor, intensity, and very loud. I don’t know about the last bit, but it’s going to be really a prime-time viewing. I think. It’s good, it’s going to be really fun. You’ll have to watch and see.”
Intrigue and deceit, you say? Does this mean we’ll be getting another version of Wells that isn’t quite who he says he is, who has more motivations for joining Team Flash than he initially lets on? Or could this be another villainous twist on Wells? Of course, we’ll just have to wait and watch to find out more.
The Flash season 5 premieres in the US on October 9th, and it should reach Sky in the UK a week later. In the meantime, we’ll keep you posted as we hear more news about The CW’s scarlet speedster and all of his chums.
