Going from Lilibet Windsor to Lisbeth Salander, Claire Foy has swapped The Crown for The Girl In The Spider’s Web. It’s quite a hairpin turn of a shift in characters for the Golden-Globe-winning British actress, which provides even more evidence of how talented and versatile she is as a performer.
And now, we have a The Girl In The Spider’s Web trailer, which shows Foy sizzling in this new role. Enjoy…
It’s a brave and a bold trailer, which spends half of its runtime playing a sizeable chunk of one captivating scene. This segment of the trailer, where Foy’s Lisbeth brings justice to a sleazy criminal, is a proof of concept; it’s all the evidence we need that Foy has taken to this role like a fish to water. She looks, sounds and acts the part, banishing our memories of the previous Lisbeth actors.
Of course, Foy is the third actor to tackle this role: Noomi Rapace starred in the Swedish adaptations of the first three Lisbeth Salander books, and Rooney Mara appeared in the American adaptation of the first one. Foy, however, is the first actress to enact the events of The Girl In The Spider’s Web, which was the first book in the Millennium series to be written by David Lagercrantz instead of the late Stieg Larsson.
The Girl In The Spider’s Web movie opens in British cinemas on November 8th, 2018.
