The Inbetweeners cast reunited over the weekend, and the images of them all together again sparked a lot of discussion on the web. Sadly, though, this doesn’t mean we are getting any new movies or TV episodes out of the gang.
The core cast of the show – James Buckley, Simon Bird, Blake Harrison and Joe Thomas – met up at a restaurant the other day. Damon Beesley and Iain Morris, who created the show, were also present.
Inviting speculation that a new series is on the way, Buckley (who played Jay, the show’s compulsive liar) posted an image on Twitter. It shows the gang seated together, with the caption of ‘Inbetweeners series 4 pre production meal’:

In true Jay fashion, it seems like Buckley was winding us up with a tall tale. Harrison (who played the earnest ladies man Neil) got to the truth behind the meal with his own Tweet, which explained that the gang were simply meeting up to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the show’s launch:
People always ask if the four of us are friends in real life. The truth is, No….but we will put up with each other if @iainkevanmorris pays for dinner.

Indeed, a recent appearance on Lorraine by Bird (who plays the briefcase-loving protagonist, Will) seems to confirm that the lads were just meeting up to celebrate the anniversary. He seemed fairly certain that there weren’t any new Inbetweeners episodes on the way:

Of course, we’d love Bird to be proven wrong and for Buckley’s Tweet to secretly be true. We’ll be sure to update you if the situation changes and The Inbetweeners series 4 does somehow become a reality…
