The second half of The Walking Dead season eight has now kicked off, as the show tries to arrest growing criticism about what’s hardly been its best run. Showrunner Scott Gimple, though, has been teasing what lies ahead, and in particular a sizeable season finale that’s in the offing.
Chatting to Entertainment Weekly, Gimple teased that the upcoming finale is going to bring certain things to a head (no spoilers), but that there’s a lot to get in. “It’s very big. Probably currently a little too big. It was pretty amazing the scope of some of the things that we got to do. And yet the emotional intensity was insane. And it very much sets up the start of the next story”, he explained.
The Walking Dead already has a season nine order in place, so there’s plenty more story it wants to tell. It does sound, as though, big changes are ahead…
