Showtime, an American cable network, has committed to producing a pilot episode for a US remake of The Wrong Mans.
If you’re unfamiliar, The Wrong Mans is a British action comedy series – from BBC Two and Hulu – created by and starring James Corden and Mathew Baynton. The show focuses on two office workers, who get caught up in a case of mistaken identity when they erroneously receive an ominous phone call: “If you are not here by 5 o’clock, we will kill your wife.” Laughs ensure, alongside some serious action scenes.
Corden and Baynton will executive produce this US remake of their show. They have also co-written the American remake’s pilot episode, with the help of Veep‘s Ian Maxtone-Graham (a seasoned American TV scribe).
As for casting, we know that Ben Schwartz, who is best known to many as Jean-Ralphio from Parks & Recreation, will have a starring role. He is playing one of the central ‘mans’, although it remains unclear who the other one will be.
There is no word yet on whether Cordon will appear, but it couldn’t do any harm if he did: given the rampant success of The Late Late Show, Corden has become just as famous in the States as is he is over here in the UK.
More as we hear it.
