Ford told CultBox: “I think there’s every chance [of the show continuing after Series 2]. We will continue to surprise and amaze!”

Producer Brian Minchin, who will also be an executive producer on Series 8 of Doctor Who, added: “There are no limits on the stories we can tell.”

Series 2 concludes this week with a two-part finale written by co-creator Russell T Davies, which sees Tom visited by a wizard family who claim to have found the most powerful object on the planet – the Source of All Magic.
