The WandaVision spinoff will centre on Kathryn Hahn’s villainous Witch.
With Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harkness threatening to steal the show in Marvel’s WandaVision, granting the witch her own series was a no-brainer. Agatha: Coven of Chaos, from WandaVision’s writer and executive producer Jac Shaeffer, got the go-ahead from Disney in November 2021.
Now, Variety has broken the news that Joe Locke, one of the breakout stars of Netflix’s Heartstopper, has been cast in the Disney+ show. We don’t know who he’ll play in Agatha: Coven of Chaos but he joins Hahn and Emma Caulfield Ford, who’s reprises her WandaVision role of Dottie.
Interestingly, Agatha is not the only character getting her own show. According to a recent report in Deadline, a show based on Vision is in development. Vision Quest would see Paul Bettany’s android trying to regain his memory and humanity.
Restored by S.W.O.R.D., White Vision took part in a Vision-on-Vision finale showdown in Wanda’s twisted fantasy town. The new show would again be under the auspices of Jac Schaeffer.
Heartstopper
Adapting Alice Oseman’s graphic novel series, Netflix’s Heartstopper proved an immediate hit for the streamer. The show tells the story of a diverse group of teens navigating the complexities of love and friendship. Series 2 and 3 are currently in production.
Joe Locke, who plays Charlie Spring, is not the first to leap from Heartstopper to a cult franchise. Castmate Yasmin Finney, who plays Elle, will appear as Rose in Doctor Who’s 60th Anniversary Specials in 2023.
We’ll keep you posted on Agatha: Coven of Chaos and Vision Quest.
