A special illustrated version of Doctor Who and the Daleks, the first ever Doctor Who novel, will be published this Autumn.

Published in 1964, the year after the show began, Doctor Who and the Daleks sees Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright caught up in the flight through time and space of the mysterious Doctor and his granddaughter Susan. They travel in the TARDIS to the planet Skaro, where they strive to save the peace-loving Thals from the evil intentions of the hideous Daleks. Can they succeed? And if they do, will Ian and Barbara ever again see their native Earth?

The novel, adapted from Terry Nation’s first Dalek story and written by Doctor Who story editor, David Whitaker, is richly illustrated by comic book artist Robert Hack with an introduction by Neil Gaiman, who wrote the Doctor Who television episodes The Doctor’s Wife and Nightmare in Silver.

“[Doctor Who and the Daleks] was my talisman … Now, read this book. Visit another world” – Neil Gaiman

The rich style and depth of characterisation of Doctor Who and the Daleks helped set the bar for the hundreds of Doctor Who novels and novelisations that followed.

You can pre-order Doctor Who and the Daleks on Amazon UK, Penguin, Bookshop, Waterstones, WHSmith and Book Depository.
