The upcoming series nine of Inside No. 9 will be its last.
The BBC have announced the start of filming on the ninth series of Inside No. 9. This six-episode series is the final run of Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton’s anthology series.
Arriving next year, the BBC have revealed a first image, as well as an initial list of guest stars.
There’s quite a list too, including CultBox favourites Mark Bonnar (Guilt), Eddie Marsan (Ray Donovan) and Vinette Robinson (Boiling Point). Also in the mix are Dorothy Atkinson (Pennyworth), Charlie Cooper (This Country) and Philippa Dunne (Derry Girls).
Plus, Siobhan Finneran (Time), Joel Fry (Doctor Who), Katherine Kelly (The Long Shadow), Matthew Kelly (Cold Blood), Adrian Scarborough (Gavin and Stacey), Hayley Squires (The Essex Serpent) and Susan Wokoma (Enola Holmes).
Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton say:
“It is with mixed emotions that we announce we have started filming the final series of Inside No. 9. We overheard some crew members the other day describe us as ‘a couple of Wonkas’ and that seems an apt description. We take the finest ingredients (stellar casts and creatives) and blend them with our secret recipe to produce unique confections that are delicious and often deadly.
It has been the greatest privilege to have been allowed to make 55 wildly different episodes and we’ll miss the yearly challenge of trying to entertain and surprise our audience. We honestly feel like golden ticket winners – which makes us not a couple of Wonkas, but a pair of Charlies.”
The show comes from BBC Studios Comedy Productions. Written by Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton, the producer is Steve Ryde.
Inside No.9 Series Nine should land on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer in Spring 2024. In the meantime, all previous episodes of the show are available to watch on the iPlayer.
