Jodie Whittaker shared a message of excitement and reassurance with readers of Doctor Who Magazine while sitting side-by-side on a sofa with co-star Mandip Gill on the Doctor Who set in a Zoom meeting with the magazine in May of 2021.
The two actresses were on a break before dinner on a long day recording scenes for Doctor Who Series 13.
After answering a series of questions fans submitted to the magazine, Whittaker had this special message for pandemic-weary fans regarding the upcoming series.
“Can I just say we’re so excited to share the new season with you. It’s an incredible privilege to be allowed to work side by side, in a safe environment, and we don’t take anything for granted. We know what everyone’s gone through – us included – and we hope that the new episodes bring some much-needed entertainment.”
The fan questions put to both Whittaker and Gill included a hypothetical motorcycle trip, actress vs character personalities, whom they would like to meet from the past, TARDIS amenities, favourite past filming locations and stories, character merchandise, most surreal filming memory, keeping secrets and difficult acting scenes.
Jodie Whittaker reported that the Doctor’s fury is a challenge to recreate.
“…the Doctor’s rage is rooted in something real. I feel that when I have to play the rage of the Doctor, it should come from somewhere really deep within.”
Eight episodes are planned for Doctor Who Series 13 with the filming continuing into July. The clip which introduced John Bishop as companion Dan revealed the series is scheduled to air sometime in 2021, likely late autumn.
