Lockerbie: A Search for Truth – first teaser trailer

It’s our first look at Colin Firth & Catherine McCormack as Jim and Jane Swire. 

Sky have released images and a teaser trailer for their upcoming drama Lockerbie: A Search for Truth.

Based on real events, the series follows Jim Swire’s remarkable quest for answers in the wake of the 1988 Lockerbie disaster – one of the world’s worst terrorist attacks.

Jim and Jane Swire’s daughter Fiona was one of the 270 victims of the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103. In this retelling of their story, they are played by Colin Firth (The King’s Speech) and Catherine McCormack (Slow Horses).

The gripping limited series, which takes place over three decades, shows how a father, driven by love and loss, risks everything in the wake of Lockerbie – one of the world’s worst terrorist attacks.

Set amidst heightened international conflict and conspiracy, Dr. Jim Swire questions his long-held beliefs and allegiances as he mounts a controversial, decades-long campaign for truth and justice that takes him to the deserts of Libya where he met Colonel Muammar Gaddafi (Nabil Alraee) and to the Netherlands for the trial of convicted Libyan national, Abdelbaset al-Megrahi (Ardalan Esmaili).

The series charts the devastating impact of Lockerbie on Jim and Jane Swire, their family, as well as the families of victims across the world.

The five-part series is a co-production between Carnival Films (part of Universal International Studios) and Sky Studios. Scottish playwright David Harrower (Blackbird) is lead writer, while Maryam Hamidi (Vigil) is guest writer on an episode. Otto Bathurst (Peaky Blinders, The Winter King) is lead director, with Jim Loach (Save Me) also directing.

Lockerbie: A Search for Truth will be released on 2nd January 2025 on Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK and Ireland. Also, on Peacock in the US. The series will also be airing on Sky in Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Austria in 2025.  We’ll keep you posted.
