Lupin part 2 is scheduled for some time in summer 2021, but that hasn’t stopped Netflix putting out a teaser
In case you’ve forgotten, Netflix has dropped a teaser trailer for Lupin part 2. No date — all we know is it’s due this summer. Why drop a trailer now? We assume there’s a grand plan for marketing and it’s about keeping Lupin fresh with subscribers and (possibly) getting us in the mood for related titles due between now and then.
It’s tempting to also see it as a response to declining viewing figures (as we’ve been reporting), but it needs to be remembered these are several weeks out. We do know Netflix has much better and current data at hand, so it may be the data we don’t see is saying Lupin needs a nudge.
If you’ve not tried this show yet, do give it a couple of episodes. The synopsis doesn’t do it justice in our view:
As a teenager, Assane Diop’s life was turned upside down when his father died after being accused of a crime he didn’t commit. 25 years later, Assane will use “Arsène Lupin, Gentleman Burglar” as his inspiration to avenge his father.
It doesn’t tell you the character of the gentleman burglar is a piece of iconic French literature and part of the wider cultural context of the series. You can read our article for more.
Whatever the logic of the recent release of this reminder (if there is any), we look forward to Lupin part 2, and the teaser trailer is worth a look.
