The vogue for revisiting old shows continues apace…
We recently heard about Scrubs and, of course, the successfully revived Frasier has notched up two seasons now. Now, Disney+ have confirmed the return of Malcolm in the Middle for a 4-episode mini-series.
A product of the 00s, Malcom in the Middle aired on Fox for seven seasons and notched up 151 episodes. It followed the exploits of a raucous family of boys, with gifted child Malcolm caught in their midst.
The show was created by Linwood Boomer, taking inspiration from his own childhood and starred Frankie Muniz as Malcom. His embattled parents, Hal and Lois, were played by Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek.
The login for the revival reads:
“Malcolm and his daughter are drawn into the family’s chaos when Hal and Lois demand his presence for their 40th wedding anniversary party.”
So far, it’s reported that Muniz, Cranston and Kaczmarek are all signed on to the project. Linwood Boomer is writing, while Ken Kwapis (The Office) directs.
Of course, interest in the show’s revival is helped by the remarkable profile Bryan Cranston enjoys since his career defining turn as Walter White in Breaking Bad.
You can find all seven seasons of Malcolm In The Middle on Disney+, which is where this mini-series will appear.
We’ll keep you posted, but imagine the show will be aiming to land in 2025 to celebrate its quarter-century.
