We can safely assume the Disney+ series will be a comedy, then…
If there were any doubt that Marvel would go for a lighter tone with its forthcoming Disney+ She-Hulk series, that doubt has been completely snuffed out by the news that Jessica Gao – who wrote arguably the best episode of Adult Swim’s Rick And Morty – has been chosen as head writer on the show.
Gao received an Emmy award for writing Rick And Morty‘s ‘Pickle Rick’, and has also worked on HBO’s acclaimed comedy series, Silicon Valley. Now, she’ll be at the top of the table while developing She-Hulk for Disney’s streaming service.
Marvel announced that it was working on a She-Hulk series at D23 back in August, while also confirming that they planned to make a series out of the Ms. Marvel and Moon Knight comics. The Moon Knight series also tapped a lead writer this week in Jeremy Slater, who wrote Netflix’s smash hit series, The Umbrella Academy.
The character of Jennifer Walters, aka She-Hulk, has been established as the cousin of Bruce Banner. Walters first got her powers after Bruce had to give her an emergency blood transfusion. However, She-Hulk is more like the Smart Hulk from this year’s Avengers: Endgame, and carries on working in her successful career as a lawyer.
More on Disney+’s upcoming Marvel series as we get it.
