If like CultBox, you grew up to a soundtrack of 80s music, the BBC’s latest acquisition might be for you. Mix Tape adapts the 2020 novel of the same name by Jane Sanderson into a four-part drama series.
The story follows Daniel and Alison, moving between their teenage romance in 1989 Sheffield and the modern-day reality of their adult relationships living on opposite sides of the world. The pair reconnect through a song from their shared past and explore their burning curiosity to understand if this is the love, and the life, they were meant to have.
Mix Tape stars Teresa Palmer (The Fall Guy) as Alison and Jim Sturgess (Cloud Atlas) as Daniel. Additionally, Florence Hunt (Bridgerton) and newcomer Rory Walton-Smith, playing the characters’ younger selves.
Adapted by screenwriter Jo Spain (Sanditon) and directed by Lucy Gaffy, Mix Tape won the SXSW 2025 TV Spotlight Audience Award. The drama filmed on location in Dublin and Sydney.

Mix Tape is coming to BBC iPlayer and BBC Two later this Summer.
