The Mysterious Benedict Society comes to Disney+ this Friday — what is it about, is there a trailer? Stay tuned…
Another original series based on a popular set of novels aimed at a younger audience, The Mysterious Benedict Society is playing in an increasingly crowded market. Does it have what it takes to succeed? Let’s find out!
So what is the Mysterious Benedict Society?
Author Trenton Lee Stewart, who lives in Arkansas, wrote the series; so far it’s millions of copies. Of course it’s been compared with Roald Dahl and JK Rowling, but it seems to have an identity of its own. Time magazine even called the first novel the Best Young Adult Book of all Time.
So far there are four books, along with a prequel. The blurb for the first book gives us a strong Harry Potter meets Charlie and the Chocolate Factory vibe with children answering a newspaper advert, solving puzzles and testing their friendship when they go undercover at the Learning Institute for the Very Enlightened.
There’s a lot more on the official website.
Who’s in it?
Tony Hale plays Mr Benedict, alongside Kristen Schaal, MaameYaa Boafo, Ryan Hurst, Gia Sandhu, Mystic Inscho, Emmy DeOliveira, Seth Carr and Marta Timofeeva,
Is there a trailer?
Of course, and you can watch the official trailer now, while you wait for Friday. There are eight episodes in total.
