The show promises a deep dive into the exploration of the scientific manipulation of human existence.
Across five seasons, the original Orphan Black drew us into a world of clones and genetic manipulation. It also made a star of its lead Tatiana Maslany (She-Hulk) who was frankly remarkable in multiple roles.
The new 10-episode series “takes place in the world” of Orphan Black with the action shifted to the near future. It takes a ” …deep dive into the exploration of the scientific manipulation of human existence. It follows a group of women as they weave their way into each other’s lives and embark on a journey, unravelling the mystery of their identity and uncovering a story of love and betrayal.”
Krysten Ritter plays Lucy, a woman with an unimaginable origin story, trying to find her place in the world, while Keeley Hawes is a perceptive but sensitive scientist who finds herself at odds with her own moral code when circumstances lead her to make an unthinkable choice. Amanda Fix and Avan Jogia (Zombieland: Double Tap) are also in the main cast.
With the teaser debuting at New York Comic Con, the show has also revealed further additions: Rya Kihlstedt (A Teacher) and James Hiroyuki Liao (The Dropout) are series regulars while Reed Diamond (Better Call Saul) is a recurring guest star.
The creator, writer, showrunner and executive producer is Anna Fishko (Fear the Walking Dead), with John Fawcett, co-creator of the original series, as directing and executive producing too. David Fortier and Ivan Schneeberg, both executive producers on the original Orphan Black return, alongside Nick Nantell and Kerry Appleyard for Boat Rocker, alongside Katie O’Connell Marsh.
Orphan Black: Echoes come from Boat Rocker and lands on AMC, AMC+ and BBC America in 2024.
