Ozark dominates the Nielsens

Ozark dominates the latest Nielsen ratings

As predicted, Ozark dominates the latest Nielsens but there’s plenty of other interest

The Nielsen Top 10 Originals streaming for April 25 – May 1 shows (as expected) a big lead for Ozark as it dominates the table. Last week we suggested:

it’s all about the final batch of the final season of OzarkSelling Sunset does well and Anatomy of a Scandal looks to fade. We expect Moon Knight to stay top 5, and we’re looking out for Russian Doll and Outer Range

As you will see from the table, most but not all of these titles make their mark. First the actual numbers…

The Nielsen data for April 25 – May 1

Usual caveats — this is US data from a few weeks ago. We add the columns marked ‘*’.

Ozark dominates

No surprises here as Ozark comes to a conclusion, following the recent release of the first tranche of the final season. Numbers are down on the opening weekend for season 4 part 1 (which reached 2,904 million minutes) but still very impressive, and far ahead of the field.

What else happened?

Grace and Frankie
Grace and Frankie

Hands up, we didn’t spot the arrival of Grace and Frankie. It’s a good week for Moon Knight creeping up the table, and a swift drop for Anatomy of a Scandal with Bridgerton also drifting quickly after last week’s return to the top of the table. Outer Range has faded, and no sign of Russian Doll.

What are we predicting for next week?

The Netflix numbers show Ozark still at the top, with The Marked Heart rising. Bridgerton holds up well and it looks like Grace and Frankie drops back. We expect Moon Knight to hold its audience, Outer Range to exit and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds debuts in the US, but may not be accounted for in the Nielsens (which seem to only cover Amazon Prime, Disney+, Hulu, Netflix and Apple TV+). Whatever happens, we’ll bring you our unique analysis as always.
