Netflix has confirmed (via Twitter) it will be bringing Parks and Recreation to UK & Ireland subscribers (and presumably everyone else) on February 1
Set in the Parks department of fictional India town Pawnee, the Parks and Recreation ran for 7 seasons across some 128 episodes between 2009-15, with a reunion episode as recently as April 2020. It’s a political satire in the style of a mockumentary (ie like The Office) created by Greg Daniels (Space Force, The Office, Saturday Night Live, The Simpsons) and Michael Schur (The Good Place, Brooklyn Nine Nine, The Office). It starred Amy Poehler as bureaucrat Leslie Knope, and focusses on a pit that needs filling, and which Leslie aims to turn into a park. The season received mixed reviews (and criticism for looking like The Office, even with the same single camera filming), but subsequent seasons won plenty of praise and awards, including 14 Emmy nominations and a Golden Globe for Poehler.
Other cast members included Rashida Jones, Paul Schneider, Aziz Ansari, Nick Offerman, Aubrey Plaza, Chris Pratt and Adam Scott. The show was defined by Rolling Stone as the show that captured the zeitgeist of the Obama Presidency. [As an aside the Rolling Stone article is very well worth a read and begs the question what about the most recent president? The Boys?]
