Adding her name to a list that includes Chris Evans, Tom Hardy and Dolly Parton, outgoing Doctor Who companion Pearl Mackie has landed a coveted spot reading a CBeebies Bedtime Story.
Mackie will be reading the story on Christmas Eve in fact. Her chosen book is Interstellar Cinderella, by Deborah Underwood and Meg Hunt. It’s described as “a retelling of the classic fairy tale with a heroine who dreams of fixing space rockets. With a little help from her fairy godrobot, Cinderella is going to the ball but when the prince’s ship has mechanical trouble, someone will have to fix it!”
She’ll be back for another story on New Year’s Day, too, that time reading Ellie’s Magic Wellies, by Amy Sparkes and Nick East. The description of that one reads “When Ellie jumps into a puddle with her new wellies a Flibberty-Gibberty jumps out and starts juggling with jam, guzzling food and squeezing toothpaste. Will Ellie manage to clean up all the mess before mum gets home?”
The BBC has yet to reveal who gets to read the bedtime story on Christmas Day. Would you bet against Jodie Whittaker or Peter Capaldi?
